CHOICES…

I read an interesting statistic a while ago. It’s said that psychologists say the average adult makes over 35 000 choices per day.

As I go through my everyday life, it certainly does not feel like I make so many choices . The number seems too big but who am I to refute this if in fact it’s true?

Hearing this, however, has made we realize one thing: there is so much that goes on in our lives that we do not pay attention to. It almost feels

as if we ‘glide’ through life in a state of oblivion. I have come to learn that along with time and of course life itself – the ability to make choices is

one of our biggest assets in life. The ability to choose what we do with our time, who we associate with, what we want to believe in and

what to prioritize in our lives is something we all take for granted.

I came across a profound fact that has changed how I see the choices I make; our brains follow the choices of our minds.

Suddenly, a lot of things made sense!

I won’t go into the boring science of how the conscious and subconscious minds work but think about this – if our brains follow the choices of our minds,

is that not the reason why we seem to always do things based on what the “heart” wants and not logic? Logic would be what the brain

dictates but our “heart” is what we truly want which is the mind’s choice. This is why we go to the store knowing all we need is a loaf of bread but

leave with 2 bags full of everything else but boring bread. Think about that for a moment…

We often underestimate the power our thoughts have because in all honesty, most of us just aren’t aware of how much control we have over them.

You aren’t a victim of your situation. Yes, there are certain things we can’t change in our lives but we can always control how we react to

what life throws at us. Our thoughts are what we need to gain control of first. They are the key to a better life for us all. They unlock our true

I urge you to start thinking about your thoughts. Are your thoughts positive? Do they empower you? ? Are they capable of finding solutions to your problems?

We cannot use the same mindset that got us into the ditch, to take us out of it. As from now, make a vow to improve your thoughts.

You have 35 000 attempts daily to ensure your mindset positively impacts your life. This isn’t rocket science – change starts with you.

You need to put in the effort for things to change. Rid yourself of any victim mentality! You still control your thoughts and decisions!
